Gun control
- Statistics do not support the idea as it is currently promoted (many statistics supporting gun control are from anti-gun sources rather than neutral sources). More Americans die from choking or hammers than guns, so trying to ban guns or impose excessive restrictions is ridiculous.
- Gun-related crime is decreasing along with other forms of violent crime even though more people own guns.
- Mass shootings have remained about the same since the 1980s (2)
- Defensive gun use happens in unknown amounts but could be very significant.
- Stricter gun regulations would likely not reduce suicide rates.
- "We reject the collective rights and sophisticated collective rights models for interpreting the Second Amendment. We hold, consistent with Miller, that it protects the right of individuals, including those not then actually a member of any militia or engaged in active military service or training, to privately possess and bear their own firearms…" — Ruling: United States v Emerson. United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, October 16, 2001. Case 99-10331. Decided 3-0.
- Police, current and former, do not believe that gun control does/will reduce crime. (article) (full PDF) (sample image)
- Medical errors kill more people than guns
- Mother Jones “myths” article debunked
- Gun control would have no impact on homemade guns.
- Most mass shootings are gang-related or take place in gun-free zones.
- An anti-gun organization cites a total of 74 school shootings between December 2012 and June 2014. However, the list is inaccurate since some of them occurred off-campus or may have been an instance of self-defense. Wikipedia has a list as well, but again, not all "school shootings" even happen on school property. The Wikipedia page is attempting to list every instance where a gun was discharged on (or near) school property as a “school shooting,” and that’s not quite correct.

- There are about 2.5m deaths each year in the USA (the total population is approximately 314m people). 32,000 are due to guns and 17,000 of those are suicides. So 15,000 out of 2,500,000 deaths (0.6%) are shootings. In 1996, toilets injured 43,000 Americans.

- A number of psychologists have said that mass shootings increase in number as a result of the attention the killers have received. Every time one of these killings occurs, the media makes it their business to tell literally the rest of the world the name, activities, and life history of these people. Many of their manifestos are spread commonly across the internet. Their faces are plastered on the news for hours every day. The same psychologists have directly warned news agencies like CNN, Fox, and MSNBC that their constant coverage, and the manner of coverage, will encourage copycat killers or drive those prone to violence to plan killings ahead of time. The media then proceeds to blame these shootings on video games, films, music, or firearms, and continues to highly sensationalize their documenting of these atrocities to the point of them looking like movies.
